How Do I Compress a PDF File? (No Signup Needed)
October 2, 2026
To compress a PDF file: upload it, choose a compression level, download the result. With PDF Wandler's free tool it works right in your browser — no signup, no installation.
Why is my PDF so large?
Usually it's the embedded images: photos, scans or high-resolution graphics inflate the file. Compression targets exactly that — it reduces image resolution (DPI) and adjusts image quality while keeping text sharp.
Compress a PDF in 3 steps
- Select your PDF: drag & drop it into the upload area or click to browse.
- Choose the level: set DPI, image quality and color mode — medium to high for documents with photos, lower works fine for text-only documents.
- Download: click "Compress" and download your smaller file.
When is it worth it?
Whenever a size limit gets in the way: email attachments (e.g. 25 MB on Gmail, often less with smaller providers), upload portals for job applications or university enrollment — or simply to save storage space.
Does quality suffer?
You decide: moderate settings shrink the file noticeably with barely visible difference. That's enough for email or uploads in almost all cases. Only choose a higher quality level if you plan to print the PDF.
What happens to my file?
Your file is used only to process your request and is then deleted automatically. There is no user account and no database — nothing is stored permanently.
